can i modify the look of the text editing cursor?

I have been a user of various apps and websites for some time now, not just with macOS Ventura/Sonoma, but also having come from Windows 10 after 30 years using a PC.

I've been using 4K for the extra real estate work-wise, and I have not noticed this until the past few days with note taking and other writing based elements, but some apps do happen to increase the cursor size and width the more you zoom in, and it starts looking like a giant blue pill that blinks in and out.

Considering with Ventura, this was not an issue at all. Is there a way to customize the cursor location to look similar to what I'm seeing while currently typing this out? It's just a simple 1 or 2 pixel wide vertical line. I honestly do not see the benefit of something that is more distracting like a flashing blue cursor, and leaves me guessing if I've clicked on the right spot, only to waste that extra second or five testing that.

Is this issue also apparent in Sequoia or is it customizable? I just want to cover all my bases while on Sonoma and while preparing to update to Sequoia in the near future.

Mac mini, macOS 14.6
