How do I stop my MacBook Air from creating archives when I rename files?

See this video.

Every now and then, when I right-click a file and choose "Rename", the "Compress" item is selected instead and an archive is created instead of the file being renamed. It only works properly when I press "Rename" on the file a second time. Any explanations?

It looks like the mouse pointer "slipped" just before you released the mouse button. I can't say if it was an involuntary hand movement (though it does seem to be), some issue with the mouse, or any sort of bug. Perhaps you were a bit more careful the second time around?

Here is a possible workaround, which you can also view as a test: right- or control-click but then instead of using the mouse, use the arrow keys on the keyboard, and press enter when "Rename" is selected. I fully expect that this will not cause "Compress" to be activated instead of "Rename". Does it?
