Apple calendar events in Phoenix show up 1 hour earlier even though all settings are to MST

I'm a snowbird. When I arrived here in Phoenix, Arizona last week from Denver, Colorado which is Mountain Daylight Time, to correct the time I changed my system settings and the iCal setting to Mountain Standard Time which is Arizona's time zone. However, all my calendar entries on my MacBook Pro show up an hour earlier than they are supposed to be. Denver is on Daylight Savings Time but Arizona does not follow DST. How do I fix this problem? It feels as though I've tried everything. Please help!!! I would be so grateful. 🤔🌵🏔

Yes, I turned it on. To get the correct times, I cannot choose Phoenix or it's an hour too early. When I set the calendar to Mountain Time, the times are correct. But if I set it to Mountain Standard Time, they're an hour earlier. On at least one program, I think it's my spam filter, the app says it cannot connect because the server is in a different time zone. I location services to make it change to the time where I am. It just makes no sense!! I'm pulling my hair out!!🤯😩
