Notes app crash after iOS 18 on iPad

My husband can no longer use the Notes app on his iPad Pro 3rd gen. after updating to iOS18 and 18.1.

The app just crashes every time he starts using it. It also did it on his iPhone, but we thing we finally fixed it by uninstalling the app through the settings and re-installing it. We tried the same procedure with his iPad - including a hard reset - but it still crashes.

I have no problems on my own iPad or phone and have looked through my settings compared to his, but can’t find anything different.
