Multiple Macs Running Sonoma Spontaneously Reboot Every 25 Mins
Hello fellow Apple experts
I'm posting on behalf of our support team who has received three calls from three different remote users both stating their MacBook Pros spontaneously restart every 25-30 minutes.
- All Macs are running Sonoma (14.2.1 & 14.5)
- I'm told they also tried applying the latest Sonoma update but the devices also restarted
- All Macs happened to be trying to install Sequoia when our teams got to them
- All have plenty of free disk space
- Rebooted to safe mode & tried there but it failed (details are light on that)
- In all crash reports under loaded kexts, only stock Apple processes are listed
- Last started kexts on both were Apple processes
- Not seeing any kernel files in /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports but I am seeing panic-full*.panic files
We're working on coordinating a time to run Apple Diagnostics and even trying to get back into recovery mode to see if the device spontaneously reboots while idling in that state. If it doesn't reboot in that state, we'll try to reinstall Sonoma which appears to not wipe any data. (I'd love to get some confirmation on that.)
What makes this particularly challenging is that all users are remote so we're a bit limited in how quickly we can troubleshoot.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
