AirPods Pro 2 Hearing Test fails with "Unable to classify due to background noise" error.

Hearing test keeps stopping stating it is unable to classify due to background noise. The only noise is me breathing! I've tried four times now and can't get through one ear without the test stopping at 75% finished.

Same....I've taken it maybe 6 times now and keep getting unable to classify. Giving up as there must be a bug or something.

Same here! Bought these specifically for this feature. I’ve tried 4 times with the same bad results! Since this has been go for the last several months, it appears Apple doesn’t care about their product or they would be more attentive to fixing this issue.

Yeah, did that but there was no option to update a test - only to create a new one. I assumed because there wasn't one to update. I may have missed something though. Unfortunately I sent them back so can't check. I was hoping for a firmware update that would enable me to use the built-in hearing test. Wondering whether to re-order

My husband was trying a few times so then I tried with his AirPods and same phone and I got through the test but I have no hearing problems, so is it not meant to be used by people with hearing loss??! After I got finished, he tried again and again! I even suggest he cheat to see if he could get through it and he could but that doesn’t help him so he tried again and now here I am! 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I encountered the same issue, and I found a simple solution that worked perfectly for me. First, insert the AirPods Pro 2 as usual. Then, place a pair of regular over-ear headphones over your ears while performing the hearing test. The over-ear headphones help to significantly reduce external noise, allowing the test to proceed without interruptions. Hope this helps!

Just purchased Ipod Pro2. Same problem. Fails too noisy while testing the right ear. Tried 10 times in perfectly quite room. Couple with the problem of losing audio while watching youtube on the tv which has been a problem for over two years I’ll be returning these.

I tried the test 12 times, 5 in my quiet bedroom and 7 more in my VERY quiet shower stall.

Failed every time with "unable to classify; at some point during the test there was enough background noise . . ."

BUGGY. So frustrating. Even if the test "succeeded" "luckily" after all these trials, I would have little faith in the accuracy of the test.

After many frustrating failures with the hearing test, I finally got it to work with both ears. Changed rooms 3 times and just kept trying. It is a game changer when you get it completed. TV is loud and clear and able to hear voices more clearly. Hope they get the bugs worked out but very impressive tool for those with hearing loss!

I have exactly the same experience in the UK, where since a week we can use the Airpods as hearing aids . On my iPad I have successfully done a hearing test and are able to use the Airpods as hearing aids. With my iphone the hearing test doesn’t work and comes with the same answer as mentioned by others: ‘unable to classify’ . What is the solution?

Thx! this seems thoughtful, but I cannot get this to work. Can you please GIVE MORE DETAILS.

I successfully installed Mimi and took the Mimi hearing test. Apple Health is now connected with Mimi. Check on that. So it is there.

HOWEVER, there is no way, that I can figure out, to get the Airpods Pro to recognize the Mimi Hearing test.

When the hearing aid function was finally approved in the UK I did the hearing test with my iPad and set up the pods. This went smooth and as a result they are working great. But when I also tried to take a hearing test with my iPhone I came across those problems "unable to do hearing test" because of noise. However, I can use them with my iPhone too, i.e. change settings etc.

I think this might be caused by tapping the responses too hard.

I had this same issue several times and could not complete the test while holding the phone in my hands.

Then I took the phone out of the case, set it in a towel, tapped the responses very lightly, and it worked the first try.
