MacBook Pro Big Sur OS laptop computer waking display problem

2019 16" MacBook Pro Big Sur OS laptop computer has a display problem. The display does not wake from sleep when lid is lifted. This problem just started this week. The hard drive wakes because the keyboard lights are on, but the display remains black. No response to clicking every key on keyboard. Only way to wake the display is by holding down the power key until the computer is restarted by force. What is the problem? I am not an expert in changing motherboard settings.

Mac Not Turning On After Lifting the Lid:

Update your Mac to Fix Bugs:

First off, I would recommend updating to the latest-compatible macOS, for compatibility issues, being certain to create a Time Machine Backup, so that all is kept up to date.

As for it not waking up, what Battery Percentage do you see remaining when you boot back up?

Overview Sleep and Wake:

A. Reenable Sleep and Wake:

I would start by turning on off and then back on, Sleep and Wake.

B. Set Up Sleep and Wake:

Be certain you are setting up Sleep and Wake correctly: Set Sleep and Wake Settings for your Mac - Apple Support

C. Use Sleep and Wake:

Thank you for your quick response.

The battery remaining is 80%-100% when trying to wake up the computer.

If I start the computer from shut down or restart the computer, the display comes on and works correctly. The display problem only happens when I put the computer to sleep by closing the lid. Then, when I open the lid again to wake the computer, the display doesn't wake.

This is my second line computer and I can't update the computer to a newer macOS due to compatibility with the software it has on it. This software isn't sold any longer, and I need to keep using this software.

I appreciate the links and will try them.
