suddenly I noticed some applications on my Mac appeared with a date appended to the app name ? I did nothing at all. also I noticed some browsers I use such as Edge lost all previously open windows and lost the history as well.
MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 14.7
Note the dates appended to some app names. This happened without any of my input automatically after a shutdown/restart cycle a week ago. The dates seem to be those when the app was installed. But the date appears only on some app, not all. Also on apps I have not used for over 10 months such as ClashX.
See above response with screeenshot of some affected apps. After this event I also noticed other issues such as browsers loosing bookmarks, Thunderbird deleting my email account. It seems like my computer has been compromised by some virus ...
This is really strange.
Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here. Use the "additional text" button and paste the report into the text box.
By looking at the report we may be able to find if there is some malware or other issues.
Change it back and see if this happens again. I never saw this error on my Mac in the past.
Which applications? Where are you seeing this? Please post a screenshot.
