automatically changing windows if a textbox is selected on a window

My mac has started having the issue of changing windows automatically 'after' I switch to a different one. I have noticed it does it if im in a section to start typing, no matter how many times i scroll to the window i want, it just keeps going back to it until i unselect the typing box. If both windows have a typing box selected, it just goes back and forth without me touching the mouse.

I really hope this makes sense & someone can help me 😭

iMac 24″, macOS 14.6

Does the same problem occur while in Safe Mode?

What pointing device are you using? A mouse? Trackpad? If possible, try with a different one to see if the problem remains.

Is this on an iMac, as your profile indicates? If this is a laptop, it could be a problem with the battery.

Yes this is on iMac and I am using an Apple mouse. The computer is only 2 years old. I do have a second Apple mouse, I might give that go!

im not sure if my computer is in safe mode but will also check that

Two different methods of Safe Mode

One for Intel computer which your byline indicates is an Apple Silicon Computer

Be sure to choose the Apple Silicon Method
