Screenshot not working MacBook Pro

My screenshot is no longer working. The last one recorded was about 2 months ago. I have restarted, checked the shortcuts, searched my MacBook for files titled screenshot, looked at recents and did a NVRAM restart. When I hit command/shift/3 I hear the sound that it normally makes but the file is nowhere to be found. When trouble shooting this I was able to take a screen recording. I have reset the screenshot options to default and it still doesn't work.

To complement and perhaps clarify PRP_53's reply: the image shown refers to the Options menu when you press Command-Shift-5, or manually launch the Screenshots application.

By all indications, you ARE taking screenshots, and they ARE being saved somewhere, it's just that you are unaware of just where that is.

FWIW, you can also add the CONTROL modifier and have the screenshot go into the Clipboard instead of saving: for example, Command-Shift-CONTROL-3 puts a shot of the whole screen in the Clipboard, ready for you to Paste somewhere.

Thanks for the additional info that helped. It appears they are now going to my clipboard so I have to paste them somewhere. I checked my options as you suggested and it says going to desktop so I have no clue why it is going to the clipboard. I can work around it but would prefer it works like it used to.
