Trying to upload audiogram for my AirPods Pro 2

I’m trying to use the audiogram balance setting with my AirPods Pro 2. I have one audiogram that I did at an audiologist, which was then uploaded to apple health, and one from Mimi hearing test. Both are in apple health but neither has brought up the option for the audiogram tuned audio

Have you found a solution to this. I’ve just had AirPod pro 2’s specially because I wanted to be able to apply an audiogram (I do have a hearing loss and use hearing aids). It seems as though you’ve been able to apply the audiogram for quite some time, but they now moved this function into the hearing aid part, which isn’t available in uk yet. So by denying access to that part of the menu, they taken away a function that was there before.

it seems to be a massive oversight to me, and can’t believe they’ve managed to do it

would love to hear that you’ve found a way around it though

Am no expert in this area, yet your post certainly deserves some respoinse.

Apple support provides documentation (linked articles below) that may be helpful:

How to : Use audiogram data in Health on iPhone - Apple Support

Eg says:

"Note: To find out if an app you’ve downloaded is compatible with Health,

see the Apple Support article Manage Health data on your iPhone or Apple Watch."

Eg: If you scroll down, the above article says:

View your data sources: Here's how to see which devices and apps update specific health categories:

  1. Open the Health app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. If you're on your iPhone, tap the Browse tab. If you're on your iPad, tap sidebar to open the sidebar.
  3. Tap a category, like Activity. If you don't see the category, swipe down to reveal the search bar, then enter a category.
  4. Tap a subcategory, like Steps.
  5. Scroll down, then tap Data Sources & Access. Only the sources that contribute to that data type will appear.

and __________________________________________

:Here's how to see all of your sources for the Health app:

  1. Open the Health app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. If you're on your iPhone, tap your profile picture in the upper-right corner. If you're on your iPad, tap Profile in the upper-left corner.
  3. Scroll down to Privacy, then tap Apps and Services or Devices."

If one, or both, of the audiograms you uploaded to Health are compatible:

Set headphone accommodations for AirPods - Apple Support

says:

If you have an audiogram in the Health app  on iPhone, you can use the audiogram to customize your audio.

____________________________________________________________________

Customize headphone audio levels on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

says:

"Use your audiogram data from the Health app

"Tap Custom Audio Setup, then tap Use Audiogram to use your audiogram data from the Health app to customize audio settings. If you have a nearly symmetric audiogram, Headphone Accommodations will take the average of the two ears and fit the left and right audio channels with that profile. If you have an asymmetric audiogram, it will fit the left and right audio channels for your better ear."

All the best :-)

It’s wild that I found this post from a month ago just tonight and your comment wasn’t initially there a few minutes ago but just moments later it showed up.

Anyway, I’m on a 12 mini with AirPods Max. I was on 18.0.1, I didn’t see the audiogram option so I decided to update to 18.1 and it’s still not there even though Mimi is connected with the Health app and my hearing test data is shown in both apps, yet Headphone Accommodations turned on only gives me the standard Apple Custom Audio Setup option.

My results would certainly warrant the hearing aid feature if it was available in the uk.

the issue for me though is the I want to apply my hearing profile to media (so specially boosting certain frequencies). This is something I think has been possible long before the hearing aid feature. Through the custom audio settings option.

I suspect though that that have moved this function to the actual hearing health section in the AirPod pro menu. As this isn’t fully working in the uk yet, they’ve also denied people in the uk the function that that was there before

and not been able to find any detail on when the function should be available in the uk. So very frustrating (and wife now wants me to send them back)

Seems, with iOS 18.1, new hearing-aid features became available in those countries where authorities similar to the TGA in USA have already given approval.

You can check if your country is listed for:

Hearing Test feature

Hearing Aid feature

Hearing Protection feature (This feature is only available in USA and Canada)

See: AirPods Pro 2 - Hearing Health Feature Availability - Apple

Apple Support's YouTube video below explains how to use the new features,

and also explains you can upload audiogram info. obtained from other sources.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5noO6dnGBs

Apple support also provides articles on the new features:

Take a Hearing Test with AirPods Pro 2 - Apple Support

Use the Hearing Aid feature on your AirPods Pro 2 - Apple Support

Use Hearing Protection with your AirPods Pro 2 - Apple Support (US / Canada)

Seems the hearing aid feature is only for those over 18 with mild to moderate hearing loss. Taking the hearing test (in settings or in the health app) determines whether a person's hearing-loss qualifies them to use the hearing-aid feature(s).

Then there is a choice of which hearing test or which audiogram is used ... (seems there may also be a choice of "averaging" the results that are available in the Health app.)

The hearing test and hearing aid features are not available in all countries or regions ... just those where appropriate authorities in that country have approved.

I understand that so far, only the hearing test has been approved for uk. (Changes appear in this article: AirPods Pro 2 - Hearing Health Feature Availability - Apple )

(The test, and the two features are listed separately)

Am no expert in this area. Seems the change to hearing-aid features came about with iPhone's iOS 18.1 version. Unless you stayed with an earlier iOS version, patience is needed for access to the new features in all those countries where authorities are still to approve (or disapprove) them.

If your iPhone still has an iOS version before the 18.1 version, then you can likely use audiogram data. Eg: For iOS 17: How to: Use audiogram data in Health on iPhone - Apple Support

AirPods had many useful hearing features well before the new features were announced. Many of those features have not been affected by recent changes.

Eg: Use Live Listen with Made for iPhone hearing aids - Apple Support

See how to: Customize headphone audio levels on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

You may want to experiment with the AirPods Pro 2's noise control modes. Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency modes for AirPods - Apple Support and see how to: Customize Transparency mode and turn on Conversation Boost for AirPods Pro - Apple Support

The hearing health features are for those over 18 with "mild to moderate" hearing loss. Instructions for using the hearing test audiogram are in this (link below) article:

Use hearing health features with AirPods Pro 2 - Apple Support

(Eg: also says you can:

"Add audiogram results from your hearing healthcare professional") if you have one.

Apple keeps this list below updated as features become available in countries whose authorities approve one, or more, of the three features (listed separately).

Thank you harri227,

Sorry I didn't realise you had a different issue than this AirPods Pro 2 / iPhone discussion topic. Seems it is the hearing aid feature and Apple's iOS system that allows AirPod Pro 2 users to add an audiogram from an audiologist .. but not all countries have that AirPods Pro 2 feature / iOS combination yet.

Seems the photograph may not work as an audiogram ? I could be wrong, yet seems the data itself would not be in an acceptable digital format,

To get the actual audiogram into the Health app for use : Download health records on iPhone - Apple Support may (or may not) help.

The video posted earlier (now on Page 1) seemed to say you could choose from the audiograms available. "Most recent" may be for multiple hearing tests done on iPhone ... "add test" seems to be to choose from other audiograms in Health app.

Jan 22, 2025 8:35 AM in response to eyal278

Hi eyal278

its available within the other type of official, but non public release of iOS

ie the one that is always ahead of the public release. I went into it as I wanted the AI stuff early, but now so pleased I did

its all fully official and very easy to get.

just not allowed to discuss it by name in the forum

as someone with a hearing loss, I save to say applying an audiogram makes the sound truly amazing

the iOS version I have still doesn’t have the hearing aid feature though

Jan 26, 2025 9:08 PM in response to brbo

Thanks, but I mean to use the audiogram from the audiologist. That was possible before 18.1 and then that audiogram was possible to use with my Airpods Max and Airpods 4. The new feature is only for Aipods Pro 2 and to use the Apple hearing test results, not the real audiogram. My Airpods Max and Airpods are becoming useless for me.

Jan 27, 2025 1:39 AM in response to harri227

Yes I’ve had the same issue too. I successfully photographed my paper audiogram, and then did a hearing test using my AirPod pro 2’s.

it will only allow me to apply the more recent one though which is the one done using my airpods

i wasn’t too concerned as the two audiograms are very close but wasn’t sure if it was because of the origin of the audiogram, or face that it will only allow you to select whatever is most recent

i might try capturing the original again, so that becomes the most recent.
