pages docs corrupted after upgrade to sequoia

Upgrading last night from Sonoma to Sequoia 15.0.1 has corrupted my Pages documents that are saved to iCloud. The main corrupted document is long—a novel in progress. The only issue I see is that the small inline image I use to separate sections has become a black square. Clicking on the square shows the correct name of the file in the image pane of the format panel. The only other images in the doc (there are two others) are not affected.

I have not altered the file yet, since discovering the corruption. How can I do a bulk fix of these many images?

There is no bulk fix. You open the Pages document, select the image, and replace it with the correct image.

I find this strange because the operating system update only affects the System areas of your startup drive on your Mac, and does not touch your documents there, or on iCloud. I have Pages documents with images in them stored on iCloud and after my update from Sonoma v14.7 to Sequioa v15.0 and subsequently v15.0.1 — not one of my Pages documents, whether on the local drive or iCloud drive has been changed or damaged.

Thanks Viking. I'm running Pages version 14.2 (7041.0.109). It's possible that Pages, too, was updated, I don't remember. Maybe that's what caused the problem, not Sequoia. There were 25-30 instances of one image throughout my long document, a small red-line drawing on white. I replaced each manually. Interestingly, clicking on "remove background" in the image pane of the format panel made the line drawing show up, but the lines were black, not red. So it seems Pages gave each instance a black background and somehow made them grayscale.

Could be something else. However, I don't always update promptly. I believe I updated apps just before updating the OS. Who knows? I live in fear of corruption! A new idea… what if that small image had been a .png? Can you see how that would do it? It is a possibility…. BTW, I have many backups of the document. Every one of them opens with the black squares instead of the correct image.
