How do you add a heading to a Numbers spreadsheet

I created a spreadsheet in Numbers. Now I need to add the Title and two subtitles. I typed a title in D1. but the title keeps wrapping around and moving into the spreadsheet I have created. How do I merge cells, center the title and prevent it from wrapping around.?

Do you mean column heading/titles? Something like:



This is a multi-step process.


First, make sure the table has two title rows:



In my example, I'm using row 1 as the 'year' and row 2 as the 'who'.


Set the cell B1 to '2023'


Select cells B1:C1


Select Table -> Merge Cells


This will adjust the cell to spread across the selected area.


With the cell still selected, set the alignment to Centered, to center the title across the merged cells:
