Does anyone know the last iTunes for Win version before the saved location reset bug?

Somewhere around version 2018, iTunes changed something that introduced a bug where the save location for iTunes Media reverts back to the C drive, if you had it set to an external drive.

Does anyone know the last, still useable version of iTunes from before this bug came out? I'd like to run it iin a VM on my home server to avoid having to deal with podcasts downloaded to the wrong location when I start and run iTunes when forgetting to reset the folder location.

OR, is there a workaround for this bug yet, after 6 or so years? I searched and haven't found a fix.

(Windows 10 Pro, external USB 3 hard drive)

EDIT: ALL I use iTunes for is to download podcasts, often with a RSS feed copy - paste from the show's website, and to buy the occasional movie and sync it with Movies Anywhere account.

I believe it was iTunes 12.9.3, but that won't read your current library. The workaround is to put your library in a portable shape where the iTunes folder with the .itl file contains the iTunes Media folder that has your content. E.g. use X:\iTunes and X:\iTunes\iTunes Media for the library and media folders respectively where X: is the drive you want to store the library on.
