how do I extend the years my data stays in my calendar from 2 years?

You probably have update iCloud Reminders a long time ago; that’s why you no longer see the option.

If the former, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Show All (or See All), turn off iCloud Calendar, restart your iPhone and turn the setting back on.
If the latter, would it be possible that older events were stored in another calendar, a Gmail or Microsoft calendar for instance?
Hi thank you. I have looked at the info and unless I am missing something I still cannot go back on my calendars further the December 29th 2021. It says to update my iCloud reminders but I do not have this option after going onto settings, iCloud name, iCloud option.
Maybe the next time I am in an Apple shop they could sort it for me and again thank you for your response
Hi tried your recommendation but when following the instruction I turn off iCloud calendar it asks "keep on my iPhone" or "delete from my iPhone" or "cancel" ?? tried keep on my iPhone but the results are the calendar details only go back for 2 years. So do I take the risk and delete from my iPhone?
There are no date restrictions on calendar events; I have events dating from 10 years ago that I can search and view. You may be running into another limit. Please see this article.
