Unable to search in my 'Photos App' after new update

HOW do we get them to put it back !!! This is horrible ! I depended on it for fast lookups for work !!

Absolute disaster - I can no longer share my photos with anyone.

so simple and easy before the update - I now have no trust whatsoever in apple.

Yep that's the first thing I noticed after updating unfortunately since I used that on the daily, especially the "saved from" filter. I updated my phone a few days ago and my ipad a few months ago - it works like normal on the ipad but doesn't seem to work at all on my phone. So I suppose it comes with time - which is weird because it seems like each new device has to catalogue your entire camera roll again.

It’s amazing how they could mess this up with NEW technology. I love it when Apple decides to create a slide show for me with pictures they pick! I have a whole show with my friend’s husband! Not mine, my friend’s! I’ll type in Palm Desert and get pics from Palm Beach! So annoying

I want my **** pictures back. I don’t know how much painter to put it. I don’t know what you did with them. I don’t know where they went. I did smoke this app on my phone to begin with. Please get my **** pictures back. All I have with my grandkids.

Up votes to most people here - I was only allotted three for today. Who sets limits on how many comments I can like? What is this? A center for ants? MIND CONTROL. Hold up…only three upvotes bc you’re already feeling woozy after opening the updated photo app. Wouldn’t want you to go aci-dazical on your upvotes. Omg.

I’m here for the same reason as everyone else. After an update, search photos is hit-and-miss. I rely on this function and am devastated to lose it. I’m hoping it re-indexes over time but it’s been a couple of days. Why break this function, Apple?

This is my first iPhone and I think I’m going to go back to Android next time I upgrade. iPhone has less functionality in general (for instance, you can’t do split screen to outsmart YouTube’s limitation on multitasking while playing music) but every time I find a gem like this search photos feature, which allowed me to search which meme I wanted to attach/post, it ends up getting ripped away.

I charge my phone nightly with the cable so ughh I don’t know if this will work for me. I hope Apple is working on changing this cause that was the best part of the photos/search function!

That’s been so frustrating. I’m in a photo app searching for a specific thing and it only gives me text matches. I’m not searching for the word ____(whatevr) I’m actually searching for a picture of that.

Yep same as. Even before I updated to iOS 18.4 the search function wasn’t working- not even for albums. I have most of my photos in albums and it works intermittently. Try to search for some albums and it won’t work at all so I have to scroll down through the list to find the album I want. They say a smart phone like the iPhone 13 has more sophisticated tech than the Apollo 11 rocket that put a man on the moon- not seeing it if it can’t carry out a basic search function!!!

I immediately noticed this upon my first search. I kept putting off the update up until today, and I’m highly disappointed after doing so. Honestly wish I would've just waited until a version where the SEO bugs in the Photos app were fixed. This definitely taught me a lesson: I will never update the software version without allowing it to be running long enough for there to be information on what kind of potential bugs that version of iOS has.
