Paying twice for a book I already purchased

I've noticed that in my library a book I purchased some time ago is showing the price for that book as if I had never purchased it. Could this just be an error on Apple's part or is something else going on? I have read that sometimes people lose access to movies or TV shows they had previously purchased from Apple. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance for any help.
