Sync calendar from MacBook to iPhone

Recently, the calendar on my MacBook M3 Pro (Sonoma 14.7) refuses to sync to my iPhone SE (2nd). I checked all the settings. It looks as if the Mac syncs an older calendar (about two weeks ago).

I tried to find where the calendars are stored, by using Terminal access to the files, but found nothing useful.

Rebooting the Mac and the iPhone did not help. The problem occurs whether I sync via iCloud or via usb cable.

there was a time when we synced data to the iphone using itunes. in one itunes update, apple simply removed the ability to sync via usb. they praised icloud as the easy way to sync data, perhaps assuming they'd get a lot of new icloud customers. there was a tremendous backlash, and three weeks later the ability was restored. ever since apple replaced itunes with music, podcasts, and tv, that ability has been missing again. here's all i've been able to do: export a modified calendar "Work" from the calendar app on your Mac. delete the "Work" calendar from the phone. email the Work calendar as an attachment. create again the Work calendar on the phone. open the message on the phone. the attachment will appear as an icon, then a name, then a download icon. tap the name to display the events in it. import the content to the Work calendar. works flawlessly but it's tedious.

Hi Howard, thanks for your swift reply. I'll try your dodge later. It looks like something I've tried already, which is to export a specific calendar entry from the Mac to the iPhone and add it to the calendar there, like you wrote.

But what surprises me, is that 'sync' worked fine without iCloud until about two weeks ago. Then it went through all the usual sync steps without error messages, but it refuses to pick up calendar items that were added more recently.

As an experiment, I created a new calendar and a new event in it, which appeared on screen just fine, but did NOT show up in the dialogue that asks which calendars must be synced.

My conclusion is, that somehow the sync software in the Calendar app got stuck on an older calendar copy and fails to recognise later additions.

But why...?
