We recently updated our two iPhones to iOS 18. Since then when using navigation with CarPlay we no longer have turn by turn audio. Neither phone will work in a 2017 Audi TT or a 2019 Subaru Forrester. I have spent hours checking any setting I can think of. Any Suggestions?

No sound on Car Play and all Navigation Apps like Waze, Google Maps and others after I updated mg Iphone 14 Pro Max to iOS 18.1. Apple should FIXED this issue ASAP. Apple updates is becoming more of a problem than fix.

Thanks for your reply. If I use navigation on my phone without being plugged into CarPlay I get the turn by turn spoken directions. I am puzzled because both phones worked in both cars until the upgrade.

In my case, there is a small speaker icon on the Apple map display that is only visible when you touch the map. My speaker icon was apparently set to off mode after upgrading to iOS18. I’m confident this is correct because I never had to mess with this setting before.
My car is a 2020 Audi A5 connected to my iPhone 14 with usb port and cable.
Noah, thank you very much for your reply. I found the speaker icon and turned it on and now I’m now getting verbal directions. Thanks again.!!!
Is this the Apple Maps in CarPlay or another navigation app in CarPlay not working? And I know you said you checked every notification you can think of but just to be sure…in Maps setting on the phone when you click on Spoken Directions the option for Directions on Radio is toggled on? And you have checked all of the settings directly on your cars radio to make sure everything is on that should be? I used navigation today in CarPlay and didn’t have this issue but different car make/model which may or may not be relevant if this isn’t happening to everyone using iOS 18
Noah, thanks after the 18.1.1 upgrade I had this problem. Sure enough, I clicked on the map after I selected the directions and NOW there is a speaker selection! WTH Apple? How about a lil heads up??? Thanks Noah 👍🏻
Same here the turn by turn audio on all Navigation apps disappeared after I updated my iPhone 14 Pro Max to iOS 18.1
It's both. For Uber maps and Apple Maps. No audio
