Calendar cursor doesn’t land where I tap

When placing the cursor in the calendar and other places/apps it doesn’t land where I tap. For example, in the calendar, if I tap on a specific letter, the cursor ends up at the end of what I wrote.Is there a way to make it land exactly where I tap? It doesn’t seem to be a problem with my phone as I’ve always had this issue and have had multiple iPhones. Samsung does it correctly.
