Apple Music Sound Quality, Mac Air

I use my playlist extensively on Apple Music. I'm finding that the sound quality for most of my tracks is quite disappointing.

Firstly, the sound is quite 'tinty' ... hardly any bottom to the tracks.

Secondly, the lead vocal on most of the tracks gets buried alarmingly by the left-right accompanied instrumentation. I hear the clarity of guitars, keyboards, etc., while the lead vocal is in the 'middle' of the laptop and somewhat muffled or drowned out.

There's no setting on the laptop for equalizing the sound of ANYTHING. AM I right?

Seems pretty inadequate.

Any suggestions would be helpful. If I have to purchase external speakers, so be it. But I shouldn't have to, really.
