Why is the Window Tiling feature not working on my Mac running Sequoia?

The new window tiling feature in MacOS Sequoia does not seem to be working for me. The little pop up does appear when I hover over the green button that is present at the top left of a app window, but when I click on an arrangement, nothing happens.

When I checked the 'Desktop and Dock' settings to see if window tiling is enabled, all of the tiling options are greyed out with no indicator as to why (I have attached a picture below for reference).

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I found the solution in my case. You have to turn on "Displays have separate spaces" to use the tiling. The setting is at the bottom of the "Desktop & Dock" settings screen under "Mission Control". After I did that and rebooted the options were no longer greyed out and it is working for me. Hope this helps others.

Ι think the whole "Move & Resize" functionality is not working now. I tested all of the submenu options with iTerm, chrome and Finder and none of the worked!

This used to be working even before Sequoia and it's pretty basic functionality.

I don't want to have separate spaces for being able to use this (which if I enable indeed it works) and I really don't understand how they are related

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot  as normal and test.  Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

Having the exact same issue. Tried Safe Boot and the problem continued to exist. Then did a reinstall of Sequoia, and the problem continued to exist. Hardware in use is a MacBook Pro with M1 Apple silicon.

Also, in what may be related, when using a second monitor (either a monitor connected by USB C or an iPad over Bluetooth), the screens do not resize to the monitor that I'm on but overlap to the other monitor, at which time I have to close the application to get it to be responsive. Below is an example of the screen residual of Outlook that appears on my MacBook's screen when I send the application to my iPad.

It looks like this a problem with the Sequoia OS, as this was not a problem with Sonoma. I'm hoping it will be fixed soon, as it makes the work I do virtually impossible, as I need to move data between multiple windows and now have to resize them manually and hope for the best.

In addition to this, has anyone been able to get a custom shortcut working with the Window Tiling? I have tried every possible thing, and nothing works. I can't believe this would be overlooked?

It's quite simple and I do it with countless apps. Go to Keyboard Short Cuts > ad a new applications specific (or global) shortcut > Enter your shortcut key combo. That's it. Works with everything else but not Window Tiling...
