Calendar Appearance

I do not believe this functionality exists (yet), but I'm looking for a way to highlight/shade/color code or in some way differentiate months in Calendar. If I'm scrolling through the calendar it is challenging to see which month I am in.

I have used BusyCal for many years, but I don't want to pay for the latest upgrade. In BusyCal, the month is outlined with a darker line. So I can see where one month ends and the next begins.

If anyone knows how to do this, or who I need to send this request to, I'd appreciate the info.
