Adding a percentage to a Price

I need to add a percentage to a dollar amount. Would like a formula to do so. It seems so simple, yet I'm about to lose my mind over this. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!!

For example: add 30% to 25.00.

Some thoughts to help on problems like this:

  1. Percentages are usually (if not always) "of" some value. In this case it is "30% of $25.00".
  2. The word "of" in this context means to multiply
  3. 30% is 30/100 = 0.30. Numbers will interpret 30% as 0.30 in a formula.

So the answer is $25.00 + (30%*25.00) = $25.00 * (1 + 0.30)
