Since I updated to the new Sonoma OS, I am unable to open my numbers spreadsheets that were previously opened using the fingerprint id. I am asked for a password OR a tickbox to open with touchId. When the tickbox is checked and I press ok, I get a dialogue box that says incorrect password try again!

Have you tried inputing the original password that you set?
