Since I updated to 17.6.1 my passcode and Face recognition is not working

This happened to me repeatedly after the 17.6.1 iOS update, after wiping and backing up my phone I realized that my passcode (a word) is normally entered when I’m looking at the number or dial screen. The passcode update was asking me for just the word on a keyboard- I thought perhaps something got skewed and maybe the phone could only associate the numbers with my passcode- and I was right!

To be clear, look at your phone if dialing a number, see what number corresponds to your passcode and try that as your “old” or “current” passcode when updating (so enter a number only). This was for an iPhone 15 pro and solved my “you need to change your passcode” issue.

Can you unlock your phone with Face ID? If so, Face ID is working, but your apps aren’t recognizing your device.

Perhaps a long shot:

Do you use VPN? If so, delete the VPN profile in Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN. Don't just turn it off; delete the profile.

I had a different issue after installing update 17.6.1 but try deleting any security APPS you might have. Even if you no longer use security, the app itself might cause problems. It worked for me.
