Can I set a default articulation in Studio Strings?

I like using Double Bass with pizzicato articulation for my bass lines. However, I can't find a way to always make new notes I paint in the piano roll be pizzicato; they always seem to default to sustain. This makes it hard to work with painting notes while looping a section in the piano roll, because new notes don't sound right. I have to stop the play, set the articulation to pizzicato, then start the loop again. Even if I can change the articulation, it gets tedious having to deal with a long articulation menu.

¿Is there a way to tell Logic Pro that whenever I add a Studio Strings note, I want to add it as pizzicato, or at least as the same articulation for the previous note?

As a workaround, I tried setting a key command assignment for Set Articulation 28 (which is what page 618 of the Logic Pro instrument manual says is the articulation ID for pizzicato). But if I have a note selected in the piano roll and press that key command assignment, nothing changes; the note is still set to sustain.

I assume that you have created a region on a track on which studio strings are selected as the instrument.

1. select your articulation set in the Track Inspector of the Main Window. In your case: Studio Double Basses

2. open the region and select Articulation > Pizzicato within the region on the left.

Now you should hear the pizz sound as soon as you use the pencil tool. Interestingly, when you play the sound on the piano roll keyboard, it still plays legato. Strange. This seems to be a bug.

I'm not seeing any place to set articulation for a region. I tried right-clicking the left end of the MIDI region for Studio Strings and could not find any menu item for articulation. I also can't find an articular setting in the track header right-click menu. Please advise.

I did click Strings in the Inspector while I had the region selected and chose Pizzicato in the articulation drop-down. But that doesn't sound like what you were suggesting I do.

I then added notes to the region in piano roll (which besides the score, is the only place I know where I can use the pencil tool), brought the focus back to the main window, and played the region. It's playing legato but showing the last played articulation as pizzicato. Yeah, sounds like a bug.
