Counting days in rolling calendar dates in Numbers

I'm a total Numbers novice, but I'm trying to figure out how to track total travel days in a rolling 180 days. So I need to be able to enter dates and get a total number of days, but I then need to tally multiple rows of days traveled to calculate how many total days traveled in 180 from the current day.

If the dates are in column A,

=COUNTIFS(A,"<="&TODAY(),A,">="&TODAY()−179)

I think the correct number to use in the formula is 179, not 180. For example, lets say it was a rolling 2 day period. That would be today and the day before, which is TODAY and TODAY-1 not TODAY-2.
