After I cleaned the MacBook, it is not recognizing the battery

I recently got a 2007 A1881 MacBook to play older games (the sims 1) again.

Upon receipt, the laptop was recognizing the battery, but after cleaning the entire laptop including taking the battery out to clean, it no longer sees the battery. The battery still charges when the laptop is plugged in, but I can’t get the laptop to see the battery so it can operate without being plugged in.

I took the battery out again and cleaned all the metal connections with 91% isopropyl alcohol using precision gun cleaning swabs and allowed it to dry before trying again and still no success.

Any suggestions?

If your MacBook is no longer recognizing the battery after cleaning it, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Connections: Ensure that the battery connector inside the MacBook is securely connected. Sometimes, during cleaning, connectors can become loose or disconnected.

Reset SMC: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) can often resolve issues related to power management, including battery recognition problems. Here’s how to reset the SMC on different types of MacBooks:

Check for Updates: Make sure your macOS is up to date. Sometimes, software updates can include fixes for battery management issues.

Run Apple Diagnostics: Apple Diagnostics can help identify hardware issues. Here’s how to run it:

  • Shut down your MacBook.
  • Turn it on and immediately press and hold the D key.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.
