Home Upgrade with iOS 17.4.1 on iPhone XS

Hello everyone,

Today I wanted to upgrade Apple Home via the home app on my iPhone XS. I got a message saying that I had to update the software on my iPhone and my Apple Watch 5, otherwise I would no longer be able to access Home (see screenshot attached, unfortunately it is in German). However, both my iPhone XS with iOS 17.4.1 and my Apple Watch 5 with watchOS 10.4 are up to date. Could it be that my hardware is too old for the Home upgrade? Unfortunately, I can't add any more people to my home without the upgrade. Does anyone have any advice on whether this will still work after the upgrade or another alternative procedure?

I guess, this message might be related to the Home App itself.

Besides the Home Pods I'm only using one more device that I can access via the Home App, and I did not get these messages.

Did you know, that we also have a german part of the Apple Community?

I still think that the message relates to devices that are linked to the default Home App, that is part of iOS 17.4.

Wenn nicht, dann würde ich in der deutschen Community diese Frage mit der Meldung von oben posten.

Hello Ingo2711,

thanks for your reply. Yes you are right, I just updated my devices and I'm running now iOS 17.5 and watchOS 10.5. But when I try to upgrade my home, I still get exactely the same message.

Thanks for the hint with the German Apple community, I was not aware of that. I also read through the discussion you linked, but it seems to be another issue there: the device there was that old, that it could not run the latest version of iOS any more and had to be replaced. But on my iPhone XS I am now running on iOS 17.5 which is the most recent version. The same applies for my watch. So I really don't get the point of the message but I also fear to perform the upgrade.

At the end I just did the upgrade and nothing happened. My iPhone XS and also my watch can be used with the upgraded home architecture. So the message was just misleading.
