Home scene plays audio on wrong speaker

I’m using a HomePod Mini as my hub, and I have some scenes set-up. I’ve added my Bose Smart Soundbar 600, as an accessory in some scenes. The audio consistently plays on the HomePod Mini only when it is meant to play only on the Bose soundbar. I will explain.

I have good morning scene which plays audio on both my HomePod Mini and Bose soundbar. I have a leave home scene that stops audio on all speakers. I also have 2 arrive home scenes which play audio only on the Bose soundbar (not the HomePod Mini).

The good morning and leave home scenes seem to work fine. It’s the arrive home scenes that I have issues with. These scenes play audio on the HomePod mini, even though the scenes don’t have the HomePod Mini as an accessory. The only speaker in these scenes is the Bose soundbar, so it should be playing on that.

I’ve tried restarting the HomePod Mini and my iPhone. They are also running the most recent OS. I’ve also tried deleting the leave home and arrive home scenes but still have the same problem.

I’m not sure if it’s relevant but I’ve discovered that if I manually stop the audio on the HomePod Mini from the Home app when I leave home, then the arrive home scenes work. I noticed that scenes do not seem to actually stop audio but only “pause”. The HomePod Mini shows “paused” in the Home app. However, if I manually stop the audio on the HomePod Mini in the Home app, then it shows “Not playing”.

I’ve also found that if I create a shortcut to turn on the leave home scene with an extra step to pause audio on the soundbar, then the arrive home scenes seem to work.

I’m wondering if this is an issue with the Home app itself or the HomePod Mini and if there is anything else that I can do to be able to control the audio on speakers with scenes as in intended.
