Keys on Vision Pro passcode entry do not always work

I am having issues with passcode entry - not remembering it, but having the passcode keys be activated by my eyes.

When I place the Vision Pro on my head, I get the passcode entry screen. My passcode is a mix of numbers some in each row of the virtual keypad. Anything in the top two rows is fine, but anything in the bottom (7890) the button just doesn't activate. This means it will eventually present the option to 'touch' the keys with my fingers, but this triggers a re-pairing of my prescription inserts, and a re-run of the 'look at the dots' and sometimes even a reconfiguration of Optic ID.

The first run experience is very fun and colorful but loses it's magic after having to do it every time!

Has anyone else seen this behavior? Is it indicative of bad inserts? Bad choice in light seal / pads etc?

Hello cbarnes!

Did your device get an update or use iCloud Backup recently? If so, that is odd. In visionOS 1.0+, this is supposed to be a resolved issue. In the release notes, under General > Resolved issues, it states:

Fixed: The virtual keyboard might be unusable when attempting to unlock a device following restore from iCloud Backup or Software Update.

If the problem occurs again, contact the Official Apple Support.

I hope this helps!

Our issue is same or similar. All my numbers are in what you call “the bottom” of the passcode entry screen/keyboard. After a restart I was prompted for my passcode, however NONE of the bottom digit keys respond to input buy tapping or by direct finger push. My device is now bricked and Apple says send for repair!

Is that also your status? Bricked?

What does your hand/finger look like when you try to directly push a key? Do you see the typical VPro “enhanced video hand” look in the pass-through video? Do you notice that your hand gets wonky when it’s in your line of sight between your eyes and the passcode entry screen? As your finger approaches the apparent plane of the screen does the entry screen start breaking up around your finger instead typing the number you’re aiming at?

Did you recover from this, or did Apple tell you to send it for service?
