Freeform Size of the Board

I do boards all the time for product presentations in Adobe Illustrator. I typically use artboards in Ai maybe 10 pages at 11"x17"." I send the files to the printer and present copies at the meeting and give those attending a set of 8.5" x 11" copies for reference and to keep. Freeform would be a great app for me but I can't find anything on sizing the board. It appears it is one giant canvas. When I go to print it cuts the boards off and readjusts the images to fit the printed page. I can't have an image from one board placed on another. Can you size the board and create more boards at the same size? The rectangle tool does not have a ruler so can't create page that way. Seems it is not made for printing but why?
