i have a new M1 chip computer- terminal is looking and not finding '/usr/local/bin/brew'

I have a new(to me) M1 computer and the terminal when I open it says:

/Users/rymcd/.zprofile:2: no such file or directory: /usr/local/bin/brew

/Users/rymcd/.zprofile:4: no such file or directory: /usr/local/bin/brew

Brew is installed and working- but from what I understand the m1 shouldn't even be using /usr/local/bin (it's an intel configuration). Was there something wrong in my Mac setup? I transferred many applications and files from my previous Intel based Mac.

Should I reset to the factory setting and manually load applications that I want?

Thank you.
