Why can't I move the face circle in Photos

This is less of a question than a complaint. I've seen this question asked here (and the "solution" which is to restart your Mac) since 2017 and Apple has refused to fix it or address it. Let's keep posting it until they decide not to be Microsoft and just ignore stuff until everyone abandons them.

Manually naming faces in Photos not working A few months back, in Photos, when attempting to move or resize a manually-added face, I would have to click outside of the circle once to move the focus onto the photo. Then I could move or resize the circle. Recently (the last month or so), that extra step doesn't work anymore. When attempting to move or resize a circle for a manually-added face in Photos, a small thumbnail of the photo appears at my cursor as if I am attempting to move the whole photo. I've tried clicking around outside of the circle and that doesn't seem to work anymore. I'm on an M1 Mac Mini running MacOS Monterey, 12.1

Photos Face Name Circle Misbehavior When I click in Info to add a face name, and the little circle comes up in the center of the picture, I can’t move the circle to the face. When I try to do that a thumbnail of the picture appears and moves with the curser—it acts as if it’s trying to move the entire picture. I can’t expand the circle. If I type the name in, I can then move the circle to the face. (Except—when I’m working in a smart album that’s “person not Richard,” and I enter the name “Richard” before I move it, the picture disappears, so I can never move it.) I have repaired the library, to no effect. I have logged on as another administrative user, repaired the library to gain permissions, and it behaves normally. But, after awhile, it begins acting up. The same applies to a library created with the new user. In Safe Mode, it’s slightly different: I can move the circle, but when I click to enter a name, the circle pops back to the center of the picture. If I enter the name i can then move the circle (if I’m not in the before mentioned smart album.) This behavior has also occurred before I tried Safe Mode. This has been going off and on for months, maybe. Any ideas? ----Mac Air, M1, 16 GB, MacOS 12.4, Photos 7.0, 250GB disk space remaining

Can not move face circle in Photos After clicking on the "+" symbol in the info window of a photo, it appears in the center of the pic but I can not move the circle over the face or anywhere. When trying to drag the circle a thumbnail of the pic appears and it seems to want to move that. The circle can be deleted but not moved. I have quit out of the app, and have rebooted the iMac to no avail. Photos 7.0, MacOS 12.6
