I can send email out but am not receiving any email

We reset my Mac computer to factory setting due to extreme delays to do anything on my Mac (i.e., open any applications, move between apps, etc.)


Once reset to original factory settings, I attempted to reset up my accounts. When I went to reset my email accounts - Gmail and ATT were functioning however, there was an issue with the outbound messages on ATT that appeared to be a server setting. We deleted the Att email and set it back up. However, now, each time I try to send an outbound message whether on gmail or Att in my mail application - the mail app crashes and I receive the warning "Mail crashed unexpectedly" so there appears to be an issue on my Mac.


On a side note, my email is NOT functioning on my iPad despite having to reset the ATT up on iPad to do the computer updates. My daughter is helping me and attempted to rebuild the mailbox but nothing happened so we thought it best to reach out to Apple.


Please advise.
