Keynote-Unchecking the box for "shrink text to fit" not saving or updating to any text box in any selected slides

Keynote v 12.2.1; OS Ventura 13.5.1

Experiencing a problem when I try to turn off "Shrink text to fit" in the Format Inspector, under Text, under Layout.

Unchecking box for "Shrink text to fit" stopped app from shrinking in the currently selected text box. Creating a new Text Style with all my formatting choices in place, holds for that slide. But when I try to apply that Text Style to another slide, the "Shrink text to fit" box is checked again. Is there any way to stop Keynote from ignoring my saved Text Style criteria, and allowing me to create or change or update text boxes so that the text is not shrunk when there is too much text to fit into the text box?

Is this inability to get the app to do what I want, a glitch, or an intentional aspect of the app., that is a default setting that cannot be changed by users?

MacBook Air, macOS 13.5
