Timeline cursor is broken for all videos opened in any video player

When I open any video file in any video player (along with Preview app from apple) on my laptop with Sonoma 14.3 - the timeline cursor at the bottom doesn't move at all.

  1. It appears to be very short for a video: 0:04 (right side) is only 4 seconds.
  2. Somehow it starts at 0:03. That gives a duration of (rounded) 1 second.
  3. Normal videos should start at 0:00 (or have full timecode (hh:mm:ss:ff)).
  4. It appears to not have audio. Could it be that this is actually a photo, somehow interpreted as video?
  5. What happens when you click the Play button?
  6. What happens when you manually drag the ‘playhead’ from left to right?
  7. macOS 14.3 is not release software, but beta. Beta software is not to be discussed here (or anywhere else public). Instead give feedback to Apple directly through the designated methods, as you agreed to. Apple Beta FAQ - Apple
