17.1.2 disconnecting my AirPods during calls

Since I upgraded to 17.1.2 on my 13 pro every time I’m on a call using my AirPods (6A300) they will randomly disconnect after a minute, then reconnect, then disconnect again and so on so I can’t use them for calls. It doesn’t happen at all when I’m listening to music, YouTube, Spotify it’s ONLY when I’m on a call. Never had any problems before this update. I’ve unpaired and re-paired them to my phone, they’re fully charged when I’m using them. Has anyone come across this or got an easy fix?

I have the exactly the same issue with ios 17.1.1 on iphone 12 pro and brand new airpods 3rd edition (6A300).

Apple have tried to help an want me to do genius bar appointment, i will also try changing announce calls setting to 'never' before it was set as headphones only. However im not sure how this can be a issue on outgoing calls? so also wondering if im getting interference as happens more certain time of day when road is busy (can bluetooth in cars driving by affect my connection?)
