tagging individual twins in photo on iphone

on pictures of my almost identical twin boys, i will get a circle correctly identifying one if them, but i don’t seem to be able to select the face if the other twin to be able to add his name. this has happened on pictures taken of them across multiple years; I can tell them apart because of clothing, but their faces are similar. would you have any ideas how to add a tag when the two people in the picture look very similar? by the way, i’m using an iphone xr; it has been updated to latest ios. i don’t have a mac.

iPhone 5s, iOS 11

With the names into the caption of the photo, in the info.

Then a search will find the photos.

You can also write the names with markup directly into the photo, so the search can find them. The new Live Text feature is also reading text in the photo.

As a work-around, create two standard albums, one for each twin, where you can collect the photos of each twin.

Congratulations on your twins!

Sorry I don't know how this will work with twins, however:

This link below opens the newest iOS 17 article on identifying people in iPhone's Photos app:

How to: Identify people and pets in Photos on iPhone - Apple Support

Eg: says:

Name a person or pet in a photo or video

When you name a person or pet in a photo or video, they’re automatically added to your People & Pets album and identified in other photos and videos in your library.

  1. Open the Photos app on your iPhone.
  2. Open a photo or video, then tap
  3. or swipe up to see the details.
  4. People or pets already named appear in the bottom-left corner of the photo.
  5. A question mark appears next to those you haven’t named.
  6. Tap the person or pet with a question mark next to their picture, then tap Tag with Name.
  7. Enter their name, tap Next, then tap Done. "

Also: Use the People & Pets album in Photos on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

says:

"Put a name to a face : Photos suggests names from your Contacts,

but you can manually add a name to a person that's already in your People & Pets album:

  1. Open the People & Pets album, then tap the thumbnail of the person that you want to name.
  2. Tap Add Name at the top of the screen.
  3. Type the person's name or select their name if it shows up.
  4. Tap Next, then tap Done."

There's a discussion thread: re: Adding notes and tags to photos - Apple Community

Eg: says:

"Photos for iOS on the iPhone cannot display keywords, titles, caption. So it has no tool to add them.

(... does have more info. about using Mac)

Hello I have the same issue and none of the suggestions work. The main issue is that sometimes in photos of both of them it clearly has 2 faces but only one name will be tagged and there is no other face with a question mark shown. And you can’t tag a face in any other way. It’s as if it’s assuming the same person can appear in the same photo and doesn’t differentiate?
