How do I reinstall High Sierra as I lost backup OS (most likely due to thre age of computer or myself) Please list steps asI'm not real computer liteate

Sounds like the 12,1 Mid 2011 iMac's internal drive has failed. In that case, there is no way to reinstall the macOS until the internal drive has been replaced. It is unfortunate, but at that age it is not worth replacing the internal drive and your best bet is to replace the Mid 2011 iMac with a new or newer iMac.
Thanks for the reply, I had replaced the hard with a formatted hard drive I had on hand. As I use it for inventory of my private workshop, (were things are stored) I don't need to upgrade, just install High Sierra. Any sugestions on where to get High Sierra to do so. Thanks for your reply
