Do I have to charge my Apple Pencil 1st gen?

I got a new Apple Pencil for my iPad 10th gen, with the usb c adapter. However, I’ve heard if you don’t charge it for like 1 or 2 weeks, the battery will die and make the Pencil useless. The Pencil loses battery when I have it connected, so it’s at more than 50% right now. But I’m worried if it’s battery will die completely if I don’t charge it.

iPad, iPadOS 17

All rechargable lithium batteries, not just the ones used in the Apple Pencil, should not be left depleted or nearly depleted for any extended length of time. Doing so risks the chance that they will lose their ability to be recharged.

How long of a period and at what charge level, may vary between devices, but I would suggest that you keep your Apple Pencil, at least 50% charged if you will not be using it for two or more weeks.
