Can't search photos by date since upgrading to iOS17

It has been over a week since I upgraded my iPhone 14 Pro to iOS 17 (now, 17.0.1). I have a lot of iCloud-synced photos (>99,000 photos) on my phone. When I try and search July 2023, that works (although the photos are not sorted by date, the way they used to be), and searching for an exact date like July 4, 2023 doesn't work at all. Is this just because of the very large number of photos? When will indexing be done? Is there a way to monitor indexing progress? At night, the phone is connected to power, and on a good WiFi network. Help!
