Using devices while waiting for appleID reset

Hi, helping someone reset their appleID. We had access to the email and phone number, but the payment card saved was old - we had the number, but not the CVV. Oh well, we hit the 'do not have access to this card' and submitted - we've now had an email saying "You will receive a text or phone call at this number when your account is ready to recover on..." (13 days time).

During the recovery input process it said that we should not use the devices during the reset. My question is - was that just until we recieved this email, or do we still have to leave them for the rest of the two weeks ?

The key section is "To avoid delays, turn off other devices that are signed in with your Apple ID until account recovery has been completed. "

The devices (iMac and iPad) are not signed in, but they were signed in with that appleID - I suppose I'm looking for reassurance that I won't mess up the recovery if we carry on using them.

Otherwise I'm gonna have to use a windows machine for nearly a fortnight !
