Payment method not working; cannot add funds via iDeal

I am in the Netherlands on an iPhone 12 Pro iOS 17.0. When I try to add funds to my Apple account, which is my preferred method of payment, and I try to use iDEAL, it doesn't work, because it won't let me choose my bank. It defaults to ABN-Amro. Typically when one uses iDEAL, there is a point in checkout where it lets you choose your bank, but there is no option to choose my bank when I try to add funds using iDEAL on Apple Pay.

OK.

So you need to add another payment methode, see -> Add a payment method to your Apple ID

  • If you want to change your card, you need to add first the new card, then remove the old card.
  • or if you want to use your Apple Account balance, you need to set your Apple Account balance as your default payment.

fyi: Not all credit & debit cards seem to work with App Store / iTunes Store, try a different one, or preferably a credit card. If your card is not accepted as a paymenf method, you need to contact your bank.

I can't add a credit card. I'm in the Netherlands. I have a US credit card with a US billing address, but I can't change my region to use the US billing address. Credit cards are not common in the Netherlands; I have a debit card, but it isn't a Visa or Mastercard or Amex. My account was set up to bill through my mobile phone plan, but that is not working since the iOS update. Currently there is no way to add money to my apple account.


iDEAL is the way to pay with Dutch banks...but it doesn't work when family sharing is set up.
