Update requires phone passcode

it’s telling me to enter a passcode to update to ios17 from the ios17 beta

i typed my apple ID password and no luck

it’s telling me to type an alphabetical password but

A- i don’t have a password to open my phone (risky and dumb i know)

B- if i did have a password it would be numerical not alphabetical

any ideas? thanks in advance
