Depending on the model of the iPhone and the version of iOS on it and the version of macOS on the iMac, the software update will be required to properly communicate between the two. So do the update if you want the iPhone to work with the iMac.

I don't want the two to communicate and the subject of this ticket was "notification seems suspicious". My question is why is MY iMac with a totally different Apple ID trying to connect or even recognizing my husband's iPhone?
