Problematic USB-C charging port in 2017 MacBook

If the plug gets jostled at all, it often stops charging. If I unplug it and replug it, it often fails to connect. (I am basically treating it as a desktop at this point). Can the charging port be repaired without replacing the motherboard?.

MacBook, macOS 13.5

Possibly. The only way to get a conclusive answer it to have Apple evaluate your Mac: Official Apple Support

In the meantime try a different USB-C cable, if you haven't already.

Yes, we have tried more than one different cable. I was afraid I had to take it to an Apple Store, but I just don't know if it will be worth it given the age of the machine and the nature of the problem. I wish there was someone I could ask over the phone or via chat.
