Does everyone buy more storage so your iPhone gets backed up to the cloud? I don’t do much with my phone and I delete photos so I’m wondering why my iCloud storage is so full

iCloud Sync: Keep your Photos / data visible and available on all devices that you have access to. If you have synced your photos to iCloud, then deleting your photos on iPhone will delete them on your iCloud too.
I use my 5GB free storage to back up 3 iPhones and 2 iPads, with room to spare. It all depends upon how much stuff you have on them. :-) I never let more than a dozen or so photos accumulate on my phones until i transfer them to a computer and delete them from the devices (and iCloud).
