Apple Watch SE Coverage

I got my Apple Watch in February. I am still covered but my screen recently got cracked and Apple says I'll have to pay $229 to get it fixed. I'm just not sure why.

User-inflicted damage is not covered under standard limited warranty.

If you paid for the extra AppleCAre+ then it will be repaired for a much smaller fee.

Correct, the AppleCare+ includes accidental damage. It why it is provided by an insurance underwriter.

Standard warranties cover material or manufacturing defects.

If you crash your car your car you claim insurance not manufacturer warranty,
